SDS hammer drills are the step up from a percussion drill. SDS drills are mainly used for masonry and concrete drilling but can also be used to drill holes in metal and wood. With a larger motor compared to a percussion drill, and a higher torque and drilling capacity, an SDS drill is the option for the larger, more industrial jobs. Some SDS drills feature a 3-mode function, allowing three different modes of drilling – hammer only, rotary hammer and chisel action.
