Carpenters especially abandoned their Stanley Yankee Pump screwdrivers and enthusiastically bought in to Makita , the first UK supplier of battery drills for Tradesmen.
Roll on 35 years to 2005 and Makita again revolutionised the now established battery tool market ! They introduced their new slide on ,light weight Lithium Iron battery system.
The difference in battery performance was astounding ! Drill drivers were now lasting all week on one fast charge! Even high wattage circular saws and grinders were now matching mains performance and giving a days work on one charge !
For a while they were ahead of the market and many ECA trade customers bought and have happily settled on the Makita 18v system as their main platform.
